As a public charter school entity operating under the jurisdiction of the state of Texas, So FLYE strictly adheres to federal and state student privacy regulations:

 

A. FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)

So FLYE protects the privacy of student education records. Once a student is enrolled, any digital data collected that constitutes an "educational record" is strictly governed by FERPA guidelines. We do not disclose student records to third parties without prior written parental consent, except as authorized by law (e.g., to school officials with legitimate educational interests).

 

B. COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act)

Our public website is designed for parents, guardians, educators, and community stakeholders. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13 through this public Site. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information via the Site without verified parental consent, we will delete that information immediately. Enrolled students utilizing our internal educational portals do so within secure, school-monitored environments compliant with COPPA.

  • P-TECH & Industry Partners: For high school students participating in our afternoon Executive Residency or Associate Degree tracks, minimal required data may be shared with higher education and corporate partners to facilitate credit architecture and internships, subject to FERPA protections.

  • Legal Obligations: We will disclose information if required to do so by Texas or federal law, subpoena, or to protect the safety and security of our students, staff, and campus asset base.

In alignment with our structural focus on technical infrastructure, So FLYE implements industry-standard administrative, physical, and technical security measures. This includes Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption for data transmission, secure firewalls, and restricted data access protocols for institutional personnel. However, please note that no digital storage system or transmission over the internet can be guaranteed 100% secure.
